How do you remember a year like 2020? A year rife with panic, paranoia, outrage, and tragedy. When the Covid-19 pandemic brought life as we knew it to a grinding halt. Many spent this time isolated from one another following the unfolding of live events that brought discomfort. Events in the news such as the presidential election, ecological disasters, and a worldwide reckoning of racial injustices. How do we commemorate such events? Should we? This catalyzed into a tongue-in-cheek ritual space adorned with keepsakes and reminders from 2020. The rituals are based on habits that were unique to our own experiences in 2020. This space is hidden below ground in a labyrinthine sequence so when one enters one may experience the desire for social justice, cabin fever, the urge to be sanitized, and the need to hoard toiletries to name a few habits. This space encourages people to confront uncomfortable collective experiences that many would prefer to forget.
